Leaving North Carolina Friday Feb. 16, 2007 and traveling across the country wasn't too bad. Everything is going real good. We stopped in Amarillo Texas at the Big Texan. This is one of the restaurants you might see on The Learning Channel or Discovery Channel. The Big Texan is famous for Steaks. They have a 72oz steak dinner if eating in 1 hour is free. While we were there 2 people sat down to try the deal, but we were finished with our meal before they got done. Let me just tell you the 72oz steak is BIG.
The next day we went through Flagstaff AZ and it started snowing. One car at mile marker 155 ran off the road, but everything was good when I drove by and they were getting help from a passing driver.
Monday we passed over the Colorado River going into California. Right now we are about 150 miles from the California Speedway in a rest area on I-40 near Barstow. We will leave here Wed. morning, get fuel, washed and head to the speedway.
The weekend at the speedway went really good. We sat on the infield with about 8 other vendors. Mike Skinner won the truck race Friday night, but the real winner for the weekend was Matt Kennseth who won the Busch race on Saturday and the Nextel Cup event on Sunday.
On Sunday 4 Jets and Helicopters flew over the track before the start of the Cup event.
It was cloudy all day and I had a hard time getting the pictures to turn out for the weekend. About an hour after the race was over we packed the trailer up and got a few hours sleep before leaving the track to head to Las Vegas.
