I just ordered the new Angel One Mechwarrior game server. It is an Alienware gaming computer from http://www.alienware.com/Product_Pages/desktop_all_gaming.aspx
Here is a list of the compontents. It should run with no lag. With some of the Changes Arsus is making for Bots skills and name changes I hope the server will be one of the best.

I used the BattleField 2145 ready profile to start with.

It should be built around the end of the month. I will most likey have it up and running the Angel One Game Server around November 18-20th. Right after race season. It will take a few days of testing to get everything right. We Should have everything running smooth by Dec.1 Please don't hold me to this. Wife wants to go to Key West sometime after race season.

Later on I want to get this Monitor for it. I went for the Free one to start with. lol

FedEx sucks. Let me explain myself.

When I got my Laptop about 2 years ago it was shipped FedEx. I tracked the package and knew when it would be deliveried so I went to the Store I used to own and waited for it. They drove right by (It's downtown) it and didn't deliver. I called FedEx and got it delivered later that day. Reason on computer was Store was close. (The Door was open it was spring time.)

Now the new Server Computer was being delivered today. I knew I might be out of town so I had it sent to my Parents home. We knew it was coming so someone was home all day. It says on the internet that deliverery was attemped at 5:30 pm and no one was home. What liars you FedEx drivers are. I'm sure there are good ones but not delivering my computer stuff. Stuff that cost thousands of dollars.

Come to find out that FedEx uses indepentant drivers on lots of their routes unlike UPS who uses company drivers.

FedEx ground gets and X from my company from now on.

Well It's here. 4 Boxes. Yeah! Now I just got to figure out how to put it together and were I want the Server to sit in the Computer room. Then install the firewalls, Virus, Router, and Mercs. lol

Kewl that it is there. I feel ya pain We hateUPS. But UPS really screwed uso ver whenwe were moving from NY to Canada so we will never use them again ...the brown box assholes.

But Im glad you your puter Very Happy cant wait to play in it

Computer is all together now. What a pain. The X-fi sound card didn't work so its running on the built in sound right now. Took me about 3 hours on the phone before I could send the card back for replacement.

Starting to put software protection and Mechwarrior on computer now.

Well the new computer is being sent back to Alienware. It seems to have a few problems, like a booting error, disk writing error, rebooting error, video page freeze, a few windows script errors, and other problems.

So The Angel One Mechwarrior game server will be down for now.

Ok here is the letter I'm putting in the box. This Computer was $4850.00us and they want a 15% restocking fee which comes to $727.00 . I'm working with my credit card company to get this blocked because of the computer being defective.

All of this was done with tech support on the phone.


Problems from first boot up from factory:

Sound card did not work. -Phase 6 not followed.

No drivers on system for sound card. Had to download from Soundblaster. -Phase 6 not followed.

Had to download video updated driver for monitor. -Phase 6 not followed. -Phase 6 not followed.

Second hard drive not formatted or installed in windows. Formatted and installed. -Phase 6 not followed.

Adrenline software not installed. Had to download from site and install. -Phase 6 not followed.

Couldn't get in bios because of USB Keyboard that came with computer was told I need a ps2 keyboard. -Phase 6 not followed.

Bought PS2 keyboard $7.00 still couldnt get into bios

Had to pull battery to get in bios because of USB Keyboard and redownloaded bios and installed updated bios for motherboard.

Turned on something in bios so usb keyboard would work to get back into bios. This should of been done at factory. -Phase 6 not followed.

Raid was turned on , Turned it off I did not order raid. Why was it turned on? - Phase 6 not followed.

Fan Error - Fan was turned on , Turned it off, system uses liquid/cooling why was fan not turned off? - Phase 6 not followed.


Things that happen during first 25 days:

Got new sound card back from Alienware it would not work in 1 pci slot, with about 3 trys and reseating card many times.

Moved to second pci slot and it worked. Question is why won't it work in the 1st slot that the factory installed card in?

not fixed -Computer boots 8 out of 10 times so 2 times out of 10 it will boot to black screen. It seems to do this more when clicking restart when shutting down or after running a few hours. -Phase 7 should of found this problem.

not fixed -Script error on entering user accounts from control panel in classic view. -Phase 7 should of found this problem.

not fixed -If you are working on the computer it will cut off and reboot. Did this 4 times this week and about 2 times last week. -Phase 7 should of found this problem.

not fixed -Installed Mechwarrior 4 game and it will freeze up after about 30 min of play reboot and it does it faster like in 5 to 10 mins. It did this many times. -Phase 7 should of found this with video freezing.

not -fixed -Respawn,, Windows had recovered from a failure. Still script error, After respawn it shows an error that says there is a hardware conflict. -Respawn causes error after restart this should of been tested in phase 6 or 7.

Tech support had me to format hard drive, Install Windows XP from XP disk still user account script error, still locks up with graphics programs.

-not fixed -I thought there might be bad sectors on disk, so I did a error check on the disk clicking both items so computer needs to restart and run the program. Computer will not restart. Let it run for 1 hour never did start. Tried hard boot no affect. Reinstalled Respawn, same as above. Hardware conflict. -Phase 6 or 7 should of found this error.

Reinstall software, and upgrades still user account script error from classic control panel and system problems with video freezing.

-not fixed -I was trying to backup my laptop computer to the second hard drive and the computer will freeze while writing to disk backup. Did this twice with same affect of locking up.

Downloaded old test verison of 3DMark2001 and ran video test. Frame rates drop from 800-900 fps to 250 or so and Screen locks up about 3/4 way through test.

Mechwarrior 4 video freezes after 30 mins of play. Can't move mouse and no keys work

I have talked to tech support many hours on the errors above and they can't seem to fix it. It states on your website that you run these computers throught many tests and they are checked out to make sure everything works correctly from the factory during phase 6,7 and 8. I do not see how this computer could of left in the condition it is if the tests stated were being done.

I recieved computer on Nov. 9th and have been on the phone with tech support the whole time except for one week I was on vacation. I see no reason I should be charged a 15% restocking fee on a computer that is defective. If the tests stated on the website were done, then it would have worked right from the start. 30 days for money back refund will be up in a few days so I see no reason to continue with tech support on the phone. Efforts to get the warranty refund period extended failed, and I feel I must get this computer returned before the 30 days are up or I will have no way to get a money refund after the 30 days. Also on your website you state that you MAY be charged a 15% restocking fee. I see no reason that this should be charged due to the fact that the computer was defective from the start, steps outlayed on the website to insure computer was working before leaving the factory were not followed, and efforts to get 30 day refund period extended to continue trouble shooting computer on the phone have failed with your support customer service.

Computer has never worked right from day one and still has problems booting, video freezing, mouse and keyboard locks up, computer shuts off and reboots when doing stuff like wordprocessing, script error on user accounts in classic control panel, problem running disk error checking with both items checked, and computer will not run long enough for me to backup my Laptop on second drive while writing data to 2nd hard drive without freezing, mouse not working and keyboard failure.

I feel with the lack of phase 6 and 7 being followed that this has caused me to spend many hours trying to fix this computer with tech support on the phone. You will not extend the 30 day refund period so at this time I see no reason I should continue to trouble shoot this computer and go over the return refund period.

I'm sorry this could not have been solved within the 30 days and for the above reasons I feel I must return this computer that I really needed working right from the factory for a Full Refund. I cannot trust it to hold data that I will need because of the failures that are occurring to this computer.

Thanks LynX, I think it is a good letter and I'm putting it in the box that the computer is in so someone might read it and give it to the right person. I tried getting to the right people thru support but I couldn't. Maybe they will do the right thing and this will be a happy ending.

So I got back all my money. They didn't get any of it. I'm sure Alienware can make a good computer, (maybe) but their Tech support sucks. If it wasn't for my CC Company I would of lost 727.00 plus the shipping.

A Tech Support picture I found and thought it was funny. I'm glad this will be a happy ending for me.
