Microsoft to close the Zone for Mechwarrior 4 Date: Tuesday, May 02 2006 @ 21:28:20 MDT Topic: Headlines
MechWarrior and MechCommander matchmaking to be retired on MSN Games – thank you so much for playing!
Quote from Microsoft: We'd like to offer a big "thank-you!" to everyone who has played and enjoyed the MechWarrior and MechCommander series of games here on MSN Games. Some of the top players in the world have challenged each other here, and we're proud to have facilitated those games.
As of June 19, 2006, we will be retiring our CD-ROM matchmaking service.
However, a variety of other fun action games (including the ever-popular MechAssault 2) are available for the PC, Xbox, and/or Xbox 360, many of which feature built-in multiplayer support! Please take a look at the Microsoft Games page for a list of some great titles.
And for more information on this change to MSN Games, please see our article, Beyond the Zone!
From TCB:
That is the message I am reading today after getting back home from the Tallegada races. MekTek is working on a way to maybe save Mercs, as in fix it so that that game will connect through a different server than the Zone, but there is not any help for BK or Vengenace at this time. So around June 19, 2006 your game will not be able to connect to any mechwarrior 4 games and the Zone will not return for Mechwarrior 4.
Also I would like to add that I will be around the game when I am home which will be for the next 2 weeks. I hope that many of you will come out and play maybe over the next few weekends so that we might enjoy this game that has made so many of us great friends. Most likey when the Zone does go down on the 19th I will not be home so I want to gives Huggs to all my Friends out there today. Thanks for the memories, all the great fun and game play.
Your Friend TCB
